Long time marriage therapists and child therapists have known something. What they’ve known is that the key to understanding children, even those who do not speak yet, is that what they do is put you in a position to feel exactly the same way that they feel, so for example, the way that you feel about the child and the way that child makes you feel in general, is how the child feels about you and how you’re making the child feel! This dynamic does not end in childhood!!
